House Loock - Hartenbos - Mossel Bay
This private dwelling is situated on the rolling and windy hills surrounding Hartenbos. The steep site enabled magnificent sea views to all the living areas and main bedroom suite, with a garage on basement level.
The dwelling's curved and flowing aesthetics is a reflection of the natural surround and ever changing nature of the ocean beyond, while a prominent natural stone structure provides visual anchorage.
The main living areas are all sea facing and provided with covered patios. Due to harsh sea wind conditions, the entertainment area was moved to the back of the house. Welcome north sun penetrates the entertainment area through an exotic plant garden, and to the west it spills over into a focus tree courtyard. This courtyard also serves two en-suite guest bedrooms which are accessible from outside the house.
“A doctor can bury his mistakes but an architect can only advise his client to plant vines.”
